Cabinet Construction Details

Doors and Drawer Fronts:
Doors and Drawer Fronts are manufactured in house by Bertch Craftsmen.
Drawer Boxes:
Drawer box sides, front and back are 5/8” thick solid birch, dovetailed at all four
corners. Drawer bottom is 1/4” thick plywood.
Drawer Slides:
Drawer slides are full extension undermount, soft motion self closing with an easy release
mechanism. They have a load rating of 100 lbs. per pair.
Available at a no charge option is the full extension precision slides with steel ball bearings.
Slides are side mounted and are a die-formed steel construction. They have a load rating of
100 lbs. per pair
Frames:
Face frames are 1 1/2” x 3/4” solid wood.
Case Work:
Sides: All cabinet sides are 1/2” thick, veneer core plywood with wood veneer both sides.
Tops and Bottoms: Tops and bottoms of the wall cabinets and bottoms of the base
cabinets are 1/2” thick particleboard substrate with birch veneer both sides.
Backs:
Backs are 1/4” natural birch plywood. Backs are set into solid wood cleats
Hardware:
Pulls and knobs are available in a variety of styles and are furnished with each order.
Shelves:
Shelves are 3/4” thick particleboard substrate with natural birch veneer on both sides and front
edge.
Toekick:
Base cabinets are supplied with 1/2" thick plywood in the same wood species as
the cabinet ordered in 4 1/2” x 8’ lengths, banded both ends and shipped loose with order.

Wood Case:
Sides, Tops and Bottoms: 3/4” medium density Particle Board Core with birch veneer both
sides. Exposed edges are banded with wood species and finished to match the job face.
Joints are doweled and glued.
Backs:
1/4” veneer core birch veneer. Backs are dadoed into the sides, top and bottom of the case.
1/2” X 2” cleats are attached to the back of wall cabinets at the top and bottom of the case and
on the base cabinets at the top of the case.
Hardware:
Pulls and knobs are available in a variety ofstyles and are furnished with each order.
Shelves:
Shelves are 3/4” medium density PBC birch veneer banded on the front edge with birch
veneer.
Toekick:
Base cabinets are supplied with 3/4" thick plywood in the same wood species as the cabinet
ordered in 4 3/8” x 8’ lengths, banded both ends and shipped loose with order.

Blum Tandembox. Tandembox incorporates superior quality steel painted sides with soft
rounded interior edges to allow easy cleaning and avoid dust build-up.
Drawer Slides:

Low Pressure Laminate Case:
Sides, Tops and Bottoms: 3/4” medium density Particle Board Core with a white Low
Pressure Laminate interior and exterior. Face edges are banded with a tough PVC which
blends with the job face.
Backs:
1/4” PBC with a white Low Pressure Laminate interior face. Backs are dadoed into the sides,
top and bottom of the case. 1/2” X 2” cleats are attached to the back of the wall cabinets at the
top and bottom of the case and on base cabinets at the top of the case.
Hardware:
Pulls and knobs are available in a variety ofstyles and are furnished with each order.
Shelves:
Shelves are 3/4” medium density Particle Board Core white Low Pressure Laminate banded
on the front.
Toekick:
Base cabinets are supplied with 3/4" thick plywood in the same wood species as the cabinet
ordered in 4 3/8” x 8’ lengths, banded both ends and shipped loose with order.
